Bill G. Cornwell May 16, 1930 - September 14, 2010 Bill G. Cornwell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, September 16, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Pastors Barry Camp and Mark Wible officiating. There will be a private family burial following the service. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Bill was born May 16, 1930, to Eugene Howe Cornwell Sr. and Mary Katherine Parrett Cornwell in Denton, Texas. After the death of his mother in 1931, Willie Mae Nail Cornwell was his special mother until her death in 2005. He was employed five years with General Tire and retired in 1994 from Hercules, Inc., after 41 years. Bill was an active member of Highland Baptist Church in Waco since 1982, serving the bus ministry and Baylor student program. He was a member of the Fidelis Masonic Lodge 1127, Scottish Rite and Karem Shrine. He enjoyed his family, camping, traveling, and friends at churches in Waco, Howard, Colorado, and Grove, Oklahoma. He will be remembered for his generosity and witty expressions to fit all occasions. He was married to Murdell Thrasher for 29 years and helped her rear five sons. After her death he married Nana Barrett Parker in 1982 in Waco. He was a stepfather extraordinaire to her four children and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eugene Howe Cornwell, Jr.; and a special aunt and uncle, Dr. James and Mrs. Lenora Cornwell Dixon. He is survived by his wife, Nana Cornwell, of Waco; his children, Dr. Marshall and Kristin Snodgrass, and Debra Cornwell Moore and Gary; stepchildren, Steve and Jennifer Copeland, Lea Ann and Mark Ewing, Robert and Melissa Andrews, and Lisa Mayes; nephew, Jim Hunt and Christine; 15 grandchildren; four great grandsons; and many dear family members and friends.
