Brenda Wayland Fischer, 74, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by those who loved her, Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, October 8 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Waco (Cobbs Dr. campus), officiated by Rev. Stephen Ramsdell. Burial will take place Saturday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m., at Prairie Hill Cemetery in Prairie Hill, Texas.
Brenda was born at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital in Waco, on December 19, 1947. She grew up in Mart, graduated from Mart High School in 1966, and continued on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in education from Baylor in 1971. Her professional career began as an honors English teacher at Connally High School. Later, Brenda became a very successful pharmaceutical representative for Sanofi and Bristol-Meyers-Squibb where she won multiple awards including top 15% of sales five times. She was also awarded trips for her hard work, which included Rome, Paris, and Cabo. Once on a company trip to Bermuda she was surprised with the Summit Award and was in top eight for sales in the nation that year. To round out her professional career she worked for Chase Bank as a personal banker. In retirement, she traveled often with her husband, Lee, to Alaska, Vermont, Maine, France, Russia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, cruising the Mediterranean, and more. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, cooking, traveling, but above all she cherished spending time with her four precious grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents Tony and Onita Wayland, of Mart.
Brenda is survived by her husband and love of her life, Leland C. “Lee” Fischer; sister, Toni W. Daugherty and husband, Roger; daughter, Kristen C. Folley; son, Steven K. Fischer and wife, Jill; daughter, Meredith F. Dupree and husband, Chad; niece, Kori W. Fancher; and grandchildren, Kai and Kade Crawford, Elena Fischer, and Fischer Dupree.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kai and Kade Crawford, Steven Fischer, Chad Dupree, Roger Daugherty, Calvin Jones, and Keith Jones.
