Bruce Leon Meador Jr., 71, passed away July 5, 2021 at Baylor, Scott, and White in Waco, Texas. A memorial service will be held August 7, 2021, at 11:00 am at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey in Waco. Bruce was born November 3, 1949, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, to Bruce Leon Meador and Myrtle Marie Meador. After graduating from Richfield High School, he continued his studies at Southwest Texas State University earning a B.B.A. in finance. He worked in global networking for over 30 years for MCI WorldCom, Memorex Telex and other network integrators in the Dallas area. During his networking career, he received certifications and expertise in Netware, Banyan, UnixWare, and Windows NT. He was most proud of developing communication links using land lines, satellite, and undersea fiber optic from remote locations in Africa to Dallas. With the telecommunication shake out during the late 90’s, he decided to retire and work for golf courses in Dallas and Waco. Bruce’s pleasant smile, friendly handshake, intelligence, humor, and wit will be missed by all. His love of the outdoors, mountains, Richfield Ram friends, golf, bay fishing, and beach combing created outstanding memories for many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Myrtle Meador of Waco. He is survived by his son Owen Wingate; his wife Shannon; his daughters, Amanda Leigh Meador of Covington, Georgia, and Victoria and Chris Westerfield of Dallas; his brother Scott Meador and sister-in-law Beth Meador; his grandchildren, Jasmine Chambliss, Grace Wingate, Brooke Wingate, Emily Harsh, Zachary Harsh; his great-grandchildren, Lily Chambliss and Will Chambliss; his niece Sarah Nordgren and her husband Gordon Nordgren; his nephew Jonathan Meador and his husband Douglas Dunning; and his grand-nieces Gwendalyn and Evelyn Nordgren.
