Clyde Collum Koehne died peacefully at his home Sunday, June 5, 2022. A memorial service will be held at a future date, followed by a burial of ashes in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery. Clyde was born December 22, 1929, in Mart, to Charles F. Koehne, Sr., and Stella Koehne. He graduated from Waco High School in 1947 and received his Master of Arts in 1960 from North Texas State College. He was an instructor of history and political science at McLennan Community College from 1966 to 1988. Clyde served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1953, including eleven months in Korea. He achieved the rank of T/SGT. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nita Banas, of Waco, and Lottie Caldarera, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; brother, Judge Charles F. Koehne, Jr., of Waco; nephews, Charles Koehne III, of Waco, Robert Charles Reid, of Dallas, and Stephen Michael Caldarera, of Austin; brother-in-law, Walt Banas, of Waco. He is survived by his niece, Nita Marie Stephens, of The Villages, Florida; nephew, Stanton Carroll Koehne, of San Antonio; two great-nieces; nine great-nephews; friends Wanda and Lee Butler, of Waco, and Gwen and Phil Thompson, of Waco; and beloved cats, Katzie and Gato. Memorial gifts may be made to the Koehne or Banas Scholarship Funds at McLennan Community College or to the charity of your choice.
