Dayna Schwartze December 26, 1952 - May 28, 2007 Dayna Wimpee Schwartze passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 at Providence Hospital. Dayna was a life long resident of Waco. She had many friends and was loved in her community. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at First Baptist Church of Waco with the Dr. Scott Walker, the Rev. Michael Attas, M. D. and Dr. Steve Sadler officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Dayna was born December 26, 1952 in Waco, Tx. She was the daughter of WJ Wimpee and Lillian Wilkins Wimpee. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1971 and from Baylor University in 1976 with a degree in Home Economics Education. She also attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. She met and married her beloved husband of 33 years, Dr. George Mark Schwartze. Dayna was involved in many community activities in Waco which included volunteer work at St. Pauls Episcopal School, Vanguard College Prepartory School, Waco Symphony Association, Waco Cotton Palace, P.E.O., Athenian/Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni group, McLennan County Medical Alliance, Junior League of Waco and Habitat for Humanity. Dayna had a love of life that included countless friends and she had a deep heritage in her lifelong church, First Baptist Church of Waco. She served as a preschool Sunday School teacher and worked in Vacation Bible School. Dayna loved many things but her passion was her family. She lived for the lives of her husband, Mark and children, Erika, Jeff and Meredith. Her life evolved around their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. WJ and Lillian Wimpee and her father-in-law, Dr. Erich Schwartze II. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Mark Schwartze; and her children, Erika Schwartze Mills and her husband, Richard Mills III ; Jeffrey Schwartze and Meredith Schwartze of Waco; and her sisters, Gayle Wimpee West of Pasadena, Tx. Deborah Wimpee Stinnett of Joplin, Mo and mother-in-law, Mary Schwartze. Pallbearers will be Mr. David Horner, Dr. Barry Oswalt, Dr. John Quinius, Dr. Gary Barbin, Dr. Masaki Oishi, and Dr. Marcial Lewin. Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. Erich Schwartze III , Dr. D. Mitchell Stinnett and The Honorable David West. Memorials may be made to the WJ and Lillian Wimpee Scholarship fund at Baylor University or to the charity or your choice.
