Diana Kay Buckner Tynes September 26, 1950 - June 1, 2014 The journey of Diana Kay Buckner Tynes of Lorena, Texas, ended on Sunday, June 1, 2014, following her courageous battle with a brain tumor. Diana trusted in God who gave her peace throughout her journey and is now with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Her memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Buddy Sipe presiding. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Diana was the eldest daughter of James and Marjorie Buckner. She lived in the Cottonwood community most of her life, growing up on the farm. She often reminisced about following her Daddy around the farm as he tended to the cattle. Diana loved all animals, especially her Labrador retriever she affectionately called "Brown Dog". She love to barrel-race horses in her younger days and her love for horses never ceased. Diana attended school at Lorena where she was outstanding in track and basketball. After graduating from high school, she attended Durham Business School in Waco. Diana then worked at William Cameron Millworks for 12 years. She was then employed as a secretary for the Lorena Independent School District, retiring in 2012 after 28 years of service. Diana was a lifelong member of Cottonwood Baptist Church where she kept the nursery for over 20 years. She loved playing second base on the church softball team. Diana and Daryl were married July 17, 2001. They enjoyed many wonderful vacations and cruises together. Diana was a beautiful person who saw the good traits in everybody. She was a kind, tender-hearted woman who always had a smile on her face. She never complained during her battle with cancer and stood tall in her journey. Diana was a true inspiration to us all. Diana was preceded in death by her father, who she adored. She is reunited with him today. Diana is survived by her husband, Daryl Tynes, of Lorena; daughter, Crystal Lovett and husband, Eric, and grandchildren, McKenzie Dale, Colton Dale and Ella Grace Lovett, all of Lorena; son, Micah Clendening of Lorena; step-daughter, Kelly Mynar and grandson, Gage Mynar of Waco; step-son, Ray Tynes and wife, Karen, and grandchildren, Zachary and Mia Tynes of Round Rock; sister, Janet Helton and husband, Jackie, of Lorena; sister, Lydia Ramirez and husband, Mike, of Lorena; mother, Marjorie Wedemeyer and husband, Louis, of Levi; brother-in-law, Dennis Tynes and wife, Mary, of Gholson; sister-in-law, Dewana Fitzpatrick and husband, Devin, of Bruceville; brother-in-law, Richard Hoelscher, of Hewitt; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, a loving church family at Cottonwood Baptist Church and the many friends she made throughout her life. Diana desired that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Fuzzy Friends Animal Rescue in Waco. The family wishes to express appreciation to the Cottonwood Baptist Church family, Providence Hospice and the many friends who provided loving support throughout her journey.
