COWAN, DOUGLAS Douglas G. Doug Cowan, 77, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 in Fort Worth. Mr. Cowan was born August 19, 1927 in San Francisco where he was reared and educated. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. He received his law degree from Hastings Law School in 1952. He married Jean Carter January 23, 1982 in Concord, California. They moved to Whitney in 1995. He had practiced law in California since 1952. Mr. Cowan served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant. He was active in Whitney Lions Club and was a member of Hill County Bar Association. He was also a 30 year member of Diablo Valley Lions Club in Walnut Creek, California. He was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies in Waco and Masonic Lodge in Orinda, California. Survivors include wife, Jean Cowan of Whitney; daughter, Sue DeMasi of Modesto, California; stepdaughters, Donna McKnight of Whitney and Phyllis Thurmon of Santo, Texas; sons, Robert Cowan of Vallejo, California and Scott Cowan of Rocklin, California; stepson, Charles Carter; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
