Sermas, Chris E. June 21, 1949 – September 17, 2005 Dr. Chris E. Sermas, 56, beloved father, son, and brother, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 17, 2005. Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, in the chapel at The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive in Houston with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be at 9:30 pm Friday, September 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. in Waco. Burial to follow at Waco Memorial North. He was born on June 21, 1949 in Waco, Texas to Evaggelos and Helen Sermas. He was the 1967 valedictorian of his Richfield High School graduating class. He received his B.A. degree and graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1971 from Baylor University and received his M.D. with honors in 1974 from Baylor College of Medicine, where he completed his psychiatry training. Dr. Sermas was currently the Deputy Chief of Psychiatry at the Methodist Hospital as well as the Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine since 2001. He was a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association. He was also a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Preceded in death by his father, Dr. Sermas is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Sermas; son, Evan Sermas; mother, Helen Sermas; sister, Patricia Sermas; brother, Dr. Angelo Sermas and wife Dr. Marsha Soechting, and nephews, Jonathan, Ryan and Patrick Sermas.
