LAMB, ELLA Ella Waring Lamb passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 8, at Hillcrest Hospital following a brave fight with several illnesses. All are welcome to attend a Visitation on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey. Burial will follow immediately at Oakwood Cemetery. Ella was born in Waco on December 14, 1920, to George and Sudie Waring. She graduated from Waco High School in 1938 and attended a local business school. She worked for The Waco Tribune-Herald following graduation. She met the love of her life, John Wilson Lamb, in 1940, while he was a student at Texas A&M College. Following the outbreak of World War II, John was stationed in Ogden, Utah, and Ella traveled there for their wedding on December 2, 1942. Following the war, Ella and John lived in Waco and she devoted herself to their only child, Su Zann. She was also a charter member of the Waco chapter of the Daughters of the Nile, Merak Temple, and was active in bowling leagues and as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Ella never met a stranger and was always the first to offer help to anyone who was in need or distress. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sisters, Mary Waring Ockander and Hazel Waring. Ella is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Su Zann Lamb, of Waco; her niece, Marilee Ockander Seal, of San Antonio; cousin, David Petty, of Victoria and great nephews, Mike and Mark Seal of San Antonio. Pallbearers will be E. James Seal, Mark Seal, David Petty, Mickey Conner, Jim Tom Speer, Malcolm Hart, Mike Waldrop and Hugh W. Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Seal, Bob Melbern, John Sleeper and Bill Cass. Memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
