GEORGE NIXON George Frederick Nixon, Jr., Ph.D., 60, of Waco, died Friday, January 18, 2002 in a local hospital. Services will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, January 22 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Mark Crawford, Rev. Ken Kesselus, & Rev. Ed Konieczny officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm Monday, January 21, at WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Dr. Nixon was born December 30, 1941, to George F. & Jean Feurbringer in Petersburg, Virginia. He married Donna Walker July 12, 1991, in Waco. Dr. Nixon was currently in private practice of Professional Psychology specializing in Child & Adolescent, Family & Clinical Psychology. He was board certified as a diplomate in Clinical & Family Psychology as well as Marital & Family Therapy. He received his Post-Doctoral Fellow Residency from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Ph.D. from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1969, Master of Arts from Eastern Michigan University and Bachelor of Science from Hampden-Sydney College in 1964. He was a member of the American Psychological Association, McLennan County Psychological Association and Texas Psychological Association. He was the Executive Director of the American Board of Family Psychology from 1986-1992, President of the Division of Family Psychology from 1984-1985, and President of the Academy of Family Psychology from 1982-1985. He was the chairman of the McLennan County Child Welfare Board from 1977-1979 and Regional Child Welfare Board 1979. He was President of the Foundation for Texas Children 2000-2001 and contact couple for Episcopal Expression of Marriage Encounter 1992-present. Survivors: wife, Donna Walker-Nixon of Waco; daughters, Jean Nixon & Nancy Nixon both of Waco. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Rector’s Fund or to the George F. Nixon, Jr. Scholarship Fund at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
