TURK, ESTELLE Hattie Estelle Turk, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 25, 2004, surrounded by loved ones. A celebration of her life will be held 9:30a.m. Monday, November 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with graveside services to follow at Rosemound Cemetery with grandson, the Rev. Paul Carter officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, November 28, from 3-6p.m. Estelle was born on April 15, 1917, in Oglesby, Texas to Hattie Bell and Richard Cox. She attended Oglesby schools and LaVega High School. She married Clarence Edwards Davis, the love of her youth, on December 12, 1934, and they had three children: Lois, Ed, and Martha. Clarence died on April 17, 1947 in Texas City, Texas. Estelle married Howard J. Turk on November 25, 1949. Howard also had a son, Robert Turk, and this completed their family. The family lived in the Concord community. Estelle and Howard moved to Chalk Bluff at retirement and had been married 53 years before his death in February, 2002. Estelle was always active in church, working with young people in Sunday School and singing in the choir. She was a hairdresser for many years and took pride in her work. She liked to sew and crochet, but her primary love was quilting. She was a member of the Primrose Quilting Club for more than 20 years. The entire family is warmed by her handmade quilts. Estelle is remembered for her smile and laughter, her compassion for others, her competitive spirit, and love for her family. She was a lovely Christian lady who inspired her grandchildren to follow their dreams. Survivors include: daughter, Lois Clay and husband, Richard; son, Robert Turk and wife, Kathy; son, Ed Davis and wife, Sherri; daughter, Martha Cloud and husband, Robert; grandsons: Paul Carter and wife, Kelly, Alan Carter and wife, Belinda; Robert E. Cloud and wife, Laura; Gregory Cloud, Michael Turk and wife, Amy; Jeffrey Turk and wife, Paige; granddaughters: Teri Davis; Traci Piazza and husband, Jim; and Amy Hobart and husband, Rob. Also, great-grandchildren: Wesley Carter, Whitney Carter, Wrandi Carter, Matthew Carter, Megan Carter, Grace Cloud, Bobby Cloud, Davis Piazza, and Taylor Grace Turk. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family would like to express appreciation to the caregivers at Ridgecrest Retirement, Providence Hospice, Dr. Randall Jensen, and Dr. Rodney Brown for the compassionate care of our Mother. Memorials may be made to Senior Citizens Program of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church or to Providence Hospice.
