Hazel Green

November 10, 1918 — December 8, 2005

Graveside services for Hazel C. Green, 87, of Lufkin, formerly of Waco, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2005 at Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, Texas. Visitation will be held for family and friends from 4 – 6 pm, Sunday, December 11, Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home at 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Green was born November 10, 1918 in Granbury, Hood County, Texas to the late Washington M and Laura Melissa May and died Thursday, December 8, 2005 in a local hospital. Mrs. Green lived in Waco most of her life and moved to Lufkin two years ago to be nearer to her family. Mrs. Green was married to Ollie Milburn Bob Green on July 10, 1946 and they shared 28 years together until his death in 1974. They were members of Highland Baptist Church in Waco. Mrs. Green was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture where she worked as a county extension clerk until her retirement in 1985. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star from 1955-56. She was a faithful Christian who put her love of God, family and friends above all else. Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie C. White of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Tommy Swearingen of Lufkin; son and daughter-in law, Barry and Cindy Green of Kenner, Louisiana; grandchildren, Jason and Heidi Hill of Katy, Amanda Hill of Houston, Brandon Johnson of Escondido, California, Brooke Johnson Long and husband Stephen Long of Carrollton, Meghan Green, Jared Green and Patrick Green of Kenner Louisiana, Ray Swearingen of Conroe, and Michael Swearingen of Lufkin, great grandson Brady Hill also of Katy, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters and brothers, her husband, Bob Green, and daughter Juanita Lee Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church of Waco, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.
