Helen Dillard, 83, of Waco, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2005, at a local hospital. Services will be at 10:30 am, Monday, August 8 at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with the Rev. Howard Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial South Chapel Hill Cemetery. She will be buried next to her husband of 52 years, Samuel Brockman Dillard, who preceded her in death on December 15, 1996. The family will receive visitors from 5 – 7pm, Sunday, August 7 at the funeral home. Helen was born in McGregor, Tx. on March 7, 1922 to Homer and Nita Davis. She grew up in Speegleville and attended Waco High School. She attended Baylor University and later worked at Waco Army Airfield where she met and married her husband. She retired from Baylor University after 29 years of service. More importantly she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and much loved mother-in-law. She was a member of Cogdell United Methodist Church and loved to play “Spinner” with her friends at Fun Bunch and Half Century Club. She is survived by daughter, Kay Roose and husband Don; twin sons, Steve and Alan Dillard and their wives, Patsy and Sally; grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian and David Dillard; Leslie Owens; Chris, Melissa and Tim Roose; Katie, Ryan and Nathan Cross and Laura Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Harrison, Hannah, and Everett and two expected later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Baylor University, Cogdell United Methodist Church, or charity of choice.
