James Rudolph Rudy Koonsman January 14, 1924 - April 13, 2006 Rudy Koonsman of Waco passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Temple. Services will be at 11:30 AM Monday, April 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel with Bobby Davis officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00PM at Hico Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 16, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel. Rudy was born January 14, 1924 in Erath County to Charlie and Emmitt Koonsman. He was raised near Hico, TX and resided there until 1951. He then moved to Waco and opened his own western and tack store. Rudy married Gale Callaway on March 30, 1972. He was a hard worker who dedicated his life to his family and friends. His love and passion for horses and rodeo lead him to develop the Central Texas Youth Rodeo Association. He was also a member of the West Fair & Rodeo Assoc. and a member & former president of the West Longhorn Club. Rudy was also a member of the Masons and Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Richard and Tommy Koonsman; one daughter, Traci; and two brothers, Billy Ed Koonsman and W.H. Koonsman. Rudy is survived by his wife, Gale Koonsman of Waco; two sons, Jamie Koonsman and wife Robyn of Blum and Michael Koonsman of Waco; sister, Jimmie Pair of Stephenville; 4 grandchildren, Hope and Jordyn Koonsman of Blum, Cody Koonsman of Waco, and Brooke Parrish of Waco; and several nieces and nephew. Pallbearers are Scott Jay, LaVerl Pair, Enri Alejo, Cody Koonsman, Larry Lassetter, Jimmy McAdams and Ron Steele. Honorary pallbearers are John Norman and Jack Whiteside.
