Jane Curry passed away peacefully at home Sunday, February 4, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Waco Memorial Park with Dr. Randall Perry officiating.
Jane was born November 11, 1936, in Marlin, Texas, to Adel and Ruth Blann. She graduated from Marlin High School in 1955. Jane married her high school sweetheart, James D. Curry, in 1956. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Kansas. Jane taught public education at various grade levels and states for 20 years, including Waco ISD, before becoming a professor in the education department at Baylor University where she taught for another 20 years.
After retiring she enjoyed quality time traveling to all 50 states and over 30 different countries with the love of her life. One of their favorite places to visit was Disney World, which they frequented often with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In later years, they enjoyed their time in Florida before moving back to Texas to be closer to family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adel and Ruth Blann; her brothers, Jack Blann and wife Lavonne, and Clint Blann; and her grandsons Michael and Stephen Graham.
She is survived by her husband, James D. Curry; son James C. Curry and wife Debbie; daughter Cynthia Graham and husband Russell; sister-in-law Janice Rogers and husband Dennis, sister-in-law Hilda Blann; grandchildren, Laurin Burton (Matt), Robert Graham (Katie), Stephanie Howard (Hayden); and her five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are James C. Curry, Russell Graham, Dennis Rogers, Robert Graham, Matthew Burton, and Brody Potts.
