John Henry Lovelace, Jr., 60, of Waco died Monday morning, July 17, 2017, after a lengthy illness. John was an organ donor and donated his eyes to Donate Life Texas. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Brumit officiating. The family will receive visitors at the home of Jean and Don McKinney, 6112 Summit Ridge, Waco 4:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 20. John was born on August 8, 1956, to John Henry Lovelace, Sr. and Sally Sadler Lovelace. He attended Waco schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1974. John went on to become the owner of Turf N Trees, sharing his talents of landscaping with his customers. He also was a paramedic for Rural Metro Ambulance Company and was recognized with several awards, including Paramedic of the Year and the Bellmead Life Saver Award. John received his Associates in Applied Science degree in nursing, certified as a RN, and lovingly cared for critically ill patients at Hillcrest Medical Center for over 10 years. John was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. On June 15, 1985, John married the love of his life, Ginger Ann Miller. Together they worked and served the Waco community through the Brazos River Festival, Cotton Palace Pageant and the board of directors of The McCullough House. On December 27, 1990, they were blessed with their only child, John H. Lovelace, Ill (Trae). John was passionate about hunting, shooting and raising champion Labrador retrievers. He was a true outdoorsman, being a member of the Texas State Rifle Association, NRA and numerous Waco gun clubs. The times he enjoyed the most were the hunting trips with Trae and showing his labs at Field Trial Hunt Tests around Texas. John's motto was: "You never can have too many guns or dogs" John was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Henry Lovelace, Sr.; and his grandparents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ginger; son, Trae; and a precious granddaughter, Lilly Grace Lovelace, who lovingly called him Papa. Survivors also include his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Floyd Miller of Waco; sister, Sarah of Fredericksburg and her children Shelby and Brandon; his brother-in-law, Ross Miller and wife, Suzanne, of Austin and their children, Mallory and Milam.
