LaVerne Davis March 10, 1934 – March 31, 2006 Lela LaVerne Tyler Davis passed away March 31, 2006 at the age of 72. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, April 3 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Bosque Chapel with the Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be held from 4 – 7 pm, Sunday April 2, in the Garden Room at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Davis was born March 10, 1934 in Memphis, TX to Ver and Robbie Tyler. She attended schools in Riesel, China Spring, LaVega, graduating in the first class at Connally High School. She married Jack Davis on April 4, 1952 in Waco. Mrs. Davis retired from the Veterans Administration Regional Office in 1990 after 14 years of service. She was an active member of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church, serving in numerous positions. The high light of her life was the 14 years she spent in Bible Study Fellowship, the last seven of those years as a Discussion Leader. She was also an active member of the Eastern Star Mart Chapter 109. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack; sons, Jamey Davis and wife, Joeena of LaPorte, Les Davis and wife, Becky of Waco and Royce Davis and wife, Colette of LaPorte; grandchildren, Jaren Davis of Humble and Jordan Davis of LaPorte; sister, Edna Gowdy of Garland; brother, Weldon Tyler and wife, Joy of Waco; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Orville Ray Gowdy, Ricky Tyler, Dicky Tyler, Kenneth Davis, Conrad Robison and Sam Mangrum. It was Mrs. Davis’ request that memorials be made to Chalk Bluff Baptist Church or Lakeview Baptist Church.
