Linda Kay Lough Hill left this earthly home for her heavenly home on May 24, 2022. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in the chapel at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Service will be conducted by longtime friends, Dr. Paul Sands and Brother Roy Marshall. Linda Kay Lough Hill was born on a beautiful fall day on November 30, 1944, in Little Rock, Arkansas to J.C. and Austeen Lipscomb Lough. The Loughs moved from Little Rock, Arkansas, to Big Spring, Texas, where her brother James was added to the family. In 1949, the Loughs moved to Lufkin, Texas, where Linda was to spend the next 16 years of her life, graduating from Lufkin High School in 1963. In 1956, Linda met the love of her life, Jerry W. Hill, at the Lufkin Little League Park. From the time they were in the tenth grade until now, they were inseparable. Linda was active in causes for all of her life. She had the same Girl Scout Leader from second through twelfth grade. In 1962, she was one of eight Girl Scouts selected to attend the Girl Scout Round-Up in Burlington, Vermont. There were 10,000 Girl Scouts from all over the world and 5,000 tents on the shores of Lake Champlain. For a girl from East Texas that had only traveled to Arkansas, she was in awe. After graduation from Lufkin High School in 1963, she and Jerry attended Stephen F. Austin State College, now a University. They married in 1965 at the age of 20. Linda received her PHT Degree (Put Husband Through). In 1967, they were blessed with their first child, Stacy Marie. In 1969, when Jerry graduated from SFA, he interviewed with Texas Farm Bureau and was hired. Within two years, they had moved three times. Life was an adventure! In 1971, they were blessed with a son, Brentley Wayne. After a nine year stay in Temple, Texas, they were transferred back to Waco in 1981, where they would spend the rest of Linda’s life, except for a brief, six year stint in Salado, Texas. Through the years, Linda made friends wherever she lived. She belonged to the Woodway First Baptist Church, Midway P.T.A., Beta Sigma Social Sorority, McLennan County Republican Party, McLennan County Republican Women, McLennan County Republican Club, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a founding member of the McLennan County Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club. She was a Texas Aggie through and through. In 2002-03, she served as the National President for the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Clubs. She loved Fall and Aggie Football. She was so proud to say that her family had an Aggie Tradition - ten Aggies! Throughout her life, Linda worked as a school secretary in Temple ISD, Waco ISD, and Midway ISD, retiring in 2002. She worked as an Election Judge, a Precinct Chair, the Office Manager for the Republican Party of McLennan County, and Secretary of the County Executive Committee. Linda is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry; daughter, Stacy Kelly and husband, Bryan, of Round Rock; son, Brent Hill and wife, Anne, of Plano. She is survived by six grandchildren, Philip Kelly and wife, Rachel, of Round Rock, Adam Kelly and wife, Grace Kelly, of Georgetown, Hannah and fiancé, Dakota Henderson, of Houston, Claire Kelly, of Round Rock, and Harrison and Jackson Hill, of Plano. She is also survived by her brother, James Lough, of North Richland Hills, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Philip Kelly, Adam Kelly, Harrison Hill, Jackson Hill, Glen Ferguson, and Jimmy Gill.
