Mary Anne Muhl June 19, 1920 - September 20, 2011 Longtime Waco resident, Mary Anne Muhl, 91, of Waco passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Providence Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Mary Anne Young was born June 19, 1920 in Axtell, Texas to William F. and Christine Kubitza Young. The Young family lived on South Third Street and in later years owned and operated Bill Young's Grocery Store. Mary Ann attended Sacred Heart Academy and Waco High School. Mary Ann married Robert Muhl at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco in 1951. For more than 29 years Mary Anne managed the accounting department at Providence Hospital before joining her husband and in-laws in the family business, Muhl Flowers. She was also a tireless volunteer for St. Mary's Church, the Ladies of Charity, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and Caritas of Waco, among many other organizations. Mary Anne was a longtime, active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and most recent, St. Louis Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, deer and dove hunting with her husband. Although she had no children of her own, she was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and over the years a friend and mentor to many children, including her godson, Michael York. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sisters, Dorothy Sanderson and Ruth Taggart; and nephew, Dan B. Swenke, Jr. She is survived by her nieces, Sallie Taggart Edward Carpp, Alpha Muenzenberger Tom Patterson, Anna Muhl Randy Dyer, Susan Farrington, Marion Muenzenberger and Sue Ann Swenke; nephews, Patrick Mimi Taggart Jr., Julius I. Shelby Muhl, Jr., Jamie Patricia Muhl, Michael Diana Muhl, Jim Deanna Swenke and Ernest Kathy Muenzenberger; and many great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Michael Muhl, J. I. Muhl Jr., Jamie Muhl, Patrick Taggart, James Swenke and Edward Carpp. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated Caritas of Waco, 300 S. 15th Street, Waco, 76701-1704 and Providence Hospice for memorials. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wesley Woods who were so kind to Mary Anne in her last years. The family also wishes to thank Providence Hospital Hospice for their loving care.
