Obituary for Nathan Hoffman Nathan Hoffman, 90, passed away September 5, 2005; Elul 2, 5765 in the Jewish calendar. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 7 at Congregation Agudath Jacob Synagogue with Rabbi Gordon Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Agudath Jacob Cemetery with Rabbi Feigenbaum of Congregation Ohr HaTorah of Dallas officiating. Mr. Hoffman was born December 22, 1914. He was partner with his four brothers at the Hoffman Banana Company and Hoffman Iron & Metal Company. Mr. Hoffman was active in the Community, serving as President of the Synagogue and various other leadership roles. He was a contributing editor to the Waco Tribune Herald. His talents as a writer and communicator were recognized by Stephan Spielberg who chose Nathan and Evelyn Hoffman to appear at the Millennium celebrations in Washington D.C. This honor was due to Nathan’s service to the Country during WWII and the 3, 000 letters he exchanged with his wife; whom he met in NYC. They both were featured in numerous papers and TV as “America’s Sweethearts.” Nathan’s greatest joys were his family and his learning. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Madelyn and husband, Ira Finkelstein, Sheryl and husband, Reese Carroll and his son, David and wife Hagit; grandchildren, Maya and husband, Justin Witkowski, Seth Fishman; Sara Finkelstein, Jonathan and Hila Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Jonas and Lucas Witkowski; sisters-in-law, Helen and Esther Hoffman. Pallbearers will be Craig Hoffman, Doug Hoffman, Carey Hoffman, Jay Hoffman, Hal Hoffman and Larry Meinstein. No flowers, please, contributions in his honor to the charity of your choice.
