Spinn, Richard September 15, 1936 – September 12, 2005 Richard Charles Spinn, passed away Monday, September 12, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15 at Austin Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Younger as the eulogist. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, September 14 from 6 to 8:00 PM in the Garden Room at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque. Dick was born on September 15, 1936 to Judge Richard and Helen Spinn in Brenham, Texas where he attended Brenham schools. At 18, he received his local preacher’s license and was appointed to Chriesman Methodist Church. While attending Southwestern University in Georgetown, he served the churches at Milano and Gause. After getting his B.A. from Southwestern, he married Harriet and they moved to the church at Golden. He attended Perkins School of Theology at SMU and graduated with a B.D. in Theology. During this time, he was ordained Deacon and Elder in the Methodist Church. He served churches in Garrison, Jefferson and Clute before moving to Waco as the Associated Minister at Austin Avenue United Methodist. Dick returned to school and received a M.A. in Psychology from Texas A & M and a PhD in Psychology from North Texas. He went to work for the Waco VA Hospital in acute Psychiatry. He also opened a private practice. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brother, R. William Spinn. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; daughters, Julie Spinn and husband Rick Petocz and Jeanne Kendrick and husband, Chesley; son Rick Spinn and wife, Hazel; grandchildren, Mandy and Melissa Spinn, Claire and Coleman Kendrick. Dick loved snow skiing, deer hunting, fishing, golf and playing bridge. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorials may be made to Austin Avenue United Methodist Church or Waco ISD Education Foundation.
