Robert Charles Janek, age 71, passed away at home on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Services will be held on Thursday, May 27, at 1 p.m. Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West, Texas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Charles was born in Waco, Texas, on January 12, 1950 and grew up in the areas of Waco and West. He was a graduate of West High School. He attended McLennan Community College as an art major. He used his artistic skills to produce outstanding watercolor paintings. Each December, one of his paintings graced the front of the Christmas card sent to family and friends. Charles’ skills extended to creating original buildings and scenery for a large model train layout. His artistic skills served him perfectly in his career as a residential designer and draftsman. Charles loved sailing on Lake Waco and admiring the sunsets. Mr. Janek is preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Evelyn Janek; his sister, Monica Wright; and his parents-in-law, J.C. and Beth Moran. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Moran Janek. Their wedding was co-officiated by Rev. Mark Deering and Rev. William Agee. His siblings include Mary Karlik and husband, Carlton, of Plano; Carolyn DeVere and husband Bob, of Severna Park, Maryland; and Danny Wright, of Waco. Charles was loved and admired by nine nieces and nephews as well as 13 great-nieces and nephews. Charles Janek leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beautiful works.
