Ruth Edith Drake

Ruth Edith Drake passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Josh Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, February 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Ruth was born January 1 (New Year’s Day), 1945, in Houston, Texas, to Clyde and Jewell Bridge. She was preceded in death by her parents at an early age, and she was raised by her aunt, Miss Willie Bridge. She graduated in 1963 from Reagan High School in Houston, Texas. Ruth met her future husband Walter Drake at Heights First Baptist Church and they were married in 1966. She raised two wonderful sons, Darren and Randall. For 32 years, Ruth enjoyed working at Baylor University in the Acquisitions Department at Moody Library. She is survived by her husband, Walter Drake; her sons, Darren Drake and wife, Christine, and Randall Drake; granddaughters, Amelia Hernandez and husband, Israel, Katie Drake, Caroline Drake, and Juliette Drake; and grandson, Zachery Drake. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Hernandez, June Drake, and Hannah Hernandez.
