Sophie Albina Makovy Young May 14, 1917 February 12, 2009 Sophie Albina Makovy Young of Waco died Thursday, February 12, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11: 00 a.m., Monday, February 16, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead with Rev. Angelo Bertini as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Sophie was born May 14, 1917, to Frank and Julie Minor Makovy in Massey, Texas, in Hill County. She married Jodie G. Young on April 24, 1940, and they made their home in Waco. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, William Joseph, Emerick A., John, and Jerome Makovy. Sophie is survived by sons, Eddie Joe and Wife, Virginia, of Woodway, and William Raymond and wife, Ginger, of West; daughter, Patricia Ann Billings and husband, Leslie, of Waco; five grandchildren, Judy Lynn Young of Woodway, Randall Cory Young of Jarrell, Michael Dwayne Johnson and wife, Holly, of Bellmead, Kelly Dean Johnson and wife, Charlotte, of Waco, Jason Raymond Young and wife, Mistie, of McKinney, and an honorary granddaughter, Sondra Kay Woodward; five step-grandchildren, Sharon Nanyes, Leslie C. Billings, Paul L. Billings, Charlotte Billings, and Ronnie Billings; five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dawn Johnson, Devin Lee Johnson, Christian Dean Johnson, Austin Raymond Young and Ethan William Young; brothers, Edward Makovy of Penelope, Frank Makovy of Lubbock, Joseph Makovy of Waco; sisters, Lillian Losak of Waco, Mary Straten of Elm Mott, and Lois Veselka of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Makovy, Gary Straten, Freddy Losak, Billy Joe Losak, Larry Young and Ronnie Young.
