VAN ARMAN, A. J., JR. A. J. Van Arman, Jr., 84 of Waco, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2005. Graveside services will be held at 11am Friday, February 4 at Waco Memorial North with the Rev. Howard Martin officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6:30-8pm Thursday, February 3 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mr. Van Arman was born March 17, 1920 in Austin to Goldie and A.J. Van Arman, Sr. He grew up in the Fort Worth area where he met and married, Dorothy Bills, his wife of 62 years. He served as a first sergeant in the United States Air Corps. He was a professional artist and his life centered around the outdoor advertising business. He owned his own business, Van Outdoor, Inc. for many years. His volunteer contributions to the Waco community were many. He was a Rotarian, Lions Club member, member of the G. H. Gurley Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Karem Shrine Temple. He also served as the president of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Texas. He was a longtime member of Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and twin sister Ruth DeWitt. He leaves his wife, Dorothy, daughters, Betty Allen and husband, David, Linda Platt and husband, Everett, and Ann Davis and husband, David, eight grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Lance Platt, Rusty Platt, Eric Platt, Jack Davis, Mike York, Jason McDaniels, and Andy Littrell. Honorary pallbearer is Dr. J.C. Littrell.
