Abel Abraham, Jr., was born October 15, 1948, in Post, Texas, to Abel and Gloria Abraham. “Chato” was the eldest of nine children. He served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War from July 11, 1969 to July 10, 1970. He was honorably discharged on February 18, 1971. He married Martha Abraham and resided in Post, Texas, where they had four children: Brenda, Jill, Lisa, and Abel III. In 1987, the family moved and settled in Waco, Texas, where Abel worked for the VA hospital for over 25 years. Abel was a good husband, a proud father, and exceptional Pepaw. He later learned that he also had a love for animals and cared for Coco and Lily. His greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, son, nephews, son-in-law and compadres. Weekends were his favorite when he would grill outside and watched college football rooting for the UT Longhorns, Baylor Bears, and recently, the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. He loved listening to the Oldies and tending to his plants in the backyard. His favorite show was Gunsmoke. He loved action movies, peanut brittle, and MSNBC. If you wanted to know what the weather was going to be like or what current event happened that day, call Dad. He will tell you. His smile was infectious and brought comfort to those around him. He was kind, friendly to his neighbors, and was highly respected by everyone, an attribute he shared with his father. He was quiet most times, but when he spoke, he always knew the right thing to say. He was that person who crossed your mind, that you would smile and say, “He’s a good man.” Abel passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. His love will live in our hearts forever. His jokes will be missed, as well as Sunday breakfasts with his famous chorizo and bean tacos. They were the best! He would make sure everything was ready when his kids visited from out of town. Family man, hero, jokester, friend, Abel will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sarah Serrano. He is survived by his wife, Martha; children, Brenda Abraham and former husband, Julio Rodriguez, Jill Abraham and partner, Marlo Soliz, Lisa Garcia and husband, Lorenzo, Abel Abraham III, and wife, Kristin; brothers, Louis Abraham, Cain Abraham, and Noah Abraham; sisters, Linda Abraham, Betty Garza, Lucy Abraham, and Mary Saldivar; grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, Caleb, Gustavo, and Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Asher.
