Adam Potsey Martinez, Jr. December 31, 1987 May 3, 2008 Adam Martinez, Jr., 20, of Elm Mott, passed away early Saturday morning, May 3, 2008 in a tragic auto accident. Services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 7 at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 5:00pm, Tuesday, May 6 at the funeral home with Rosary at 7:00 pm. Adam was born on December 31, 1987 in Austin to Adam Martinez, Sr. and Rosaura Rosie Martinez. A 2007 graduate of Connally ISD, Adam was a loyal and avid Cadet. He participated in track and field events of shotput and discus, golf and baseball. Adam qualified in power lifting at both the regional and state level. He proudly wore #61 throughout his football years and was crowned homecoming king in 2006. He was currently employed at El Conquistador, his grandfather's restaurant. Adam's big smile and loving spirit will be missed, yet remembered by his family and his many, many friends. He enjoyed participating in his grandfather's annual golf tournament, hunting and playing video games. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Guadalupe Pito Martinez, great-uncles, Manuel Ramirez, Philipe Ramirez, Vicente Martinez and Isabell Torres; great-aunts, Mary Romo, Catherine Riggins and Sapopa Basquez. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Adam Martinez, Sr. and Rosaura Rosie Martinez of Elm Mott; brother, Jesus Gonzalez and wife, Michelle of China Spring; sisters, Ambar, Stephanie and Veronica Martinez of Elm Mott; niece, Mia Gonzalez; grandparents, Teodulo Ted and Maria del Carmen Gonzalez, Sr. of Waco, Cecilia Martinez of Waco and many aunts, uncles and cousins and his very special friends, Ashley McCoy and Bradley Cummings. Pallbearers will be Jesus Mickey Gonzalez, Juan J.J. Gonzalez, Teddy Gonzalez III, Garrett Gonzalez, Grant Gonzalez, Terance Whitaker, Bradley Cummings and Jeremiah Jonse. Honorary Pallbearers are the Connally High School Athletic Coaches and Class of 2006 2007 football team, Michael Martinez, Lance Moore, Colton C4 Henderson, Joe Hall, Eric Forward, Nick Gonzalez, Garlin Gonzalez, Zachary Gonzalez, Ryan Davila and Jonathan Alaniz. The family extends their gratitude to all their family and friends for their support, cards and flowers during this time.
