Adela Notarte Goodwin passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019, in Killeen, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Adela was born in Hilongos, Leyte, Philippines, to Concordio and Natividad Notarte. In 1981, Adela and James met in Spain, and soon married in an intimate ceremony in Gibraltar. With $20 in their pockets, they ate peanut butter sandwiches for their first meal as a married couple. They were inseparable. Adela and Jim lived many places in the world, but settled in Waco 13 years ago. Adela was passionate about her family, both in the U.S. and in the Philippines, tending to her beautiful garden and listening to Journey on her daily morning runs. She loved FaceTiming her grandchildren whenever she had the chance. She was an amazing cook and loved making delicious food whenever her friends and family would visit. Adela was fun-loving, joyous, and cared deeply for her children and grandchildren. There was nothing more important to her than being with the ones she loved. Adela was preceded in death by her parents; and her older sister, Louisa. She is survived by her husband, James David Goodwin; her children, Ernest and his wife, Megan, of Vancouver, Washington, Maria of Halifax, Canada, and Jonathan and his wife, Samantha, of Liberty Lake, Washington; her siblings, Max Notarte, Felix Notarte, and Diosdada Notarte, all of Hilongos, Leyte, Philippines; and 11 grandchildren. Adela was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of meeting her. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
