Adella Pyeatt Vardeman

Adella (Del) Vardeman, 91, passed away December 16, 2016, at Providence Hospice Place. A Memorial Service will be in the chapel at Stilwell Retirement Residence on January 14, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Del was born at home in Memphis, Texas, on October 28, 1925. She grew up in Memphis and moved to Waco, Texas, to attend Baylor University. She married Charles Vardeman on February 14, 1948, in Waco. After working for the FAA in both Waco and Ft Worth, she retired and moved back to Waco in 1986. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her mother, Gladys Pyeatt; father, Alvin Pyeatt; sister, Frances Zolensky; husband, Charles Vardeman; daughter, Debra Dickerson; granddaughter, Leigh Dickerson; and great-grandsons, Lucas and Ethan Compton. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Compton and husband, Jack, of Waco; three grandchildren, Amy Grigsby and husband, Lance, of Waco, Benjamin Compton and wife, Taryn, of Ft. Worth, and Charlie Pokorny of Austin; five great-grandchildren, Tracey Merino of Austin, Compton and Alden Grigsby of Waco, and Caleb and Aaron Compton of Ft. Worth.
