Akiko Ruth Schaal March 21, 1927 - June 7, 2016 Akiko Schaal of Waco, Texas, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Akiko will be in state at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. She was born March 21, 1927, in Osaka, Japan, to Akira and Sada Katada. On March 25, 1958, in Fukuoka, Japan, Akiko married Robert Everett Schaal, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. He preceded her in death December 19, 1979, in Waco. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by one niece and a great nephew of Japan; a trusted friend, Ted Busch; and her loving caregiver, Kay Deggs. Akiko will be remembered for her loving, giving spirit and as an alteration specialist for Cox’s, Town & Country, Olga’s and Massey’s. Memorials may be sent to any animal care facility.
