Albert Darrell Cobbs, 70, of Woodway joined his Savior in Heaven on Monday, February 27, 2017. A celebration of his life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at First United Methodist Church of Waco with Reverend Steve Ramsdell officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Bosqueville Cemetery. Darrell was born in Houston, Texas, on May 23, 1946, to Albert W. and Tina Grimes Cobbs. He graduated from Waco High School in 1964 and attended Navarro Jr. College and Baylor University. On August 6, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Sheryl Ann Huddleston. They were blessed to have two loving daughters. They had the joy of celebrating 50 years of marriage in 2016. Darrell joined his father's business in June of 1968, and soon his gifts as a businessman and entrepreneur became evident. In his partnership with his father, he founded the automotive parts division of Cobbs Automotive. He had many long-term employees who contributed to the success of the business. Serving his customers and caring for his employees was at the heart of his business philosophy. In his retirement years, he became an avid woodturner. He committed his heart and life to his Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 24. He was actively involved in his church community and served in various capacities for 46 years. He had a generous heart and loved people well. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Cobbs; granddaughter, Anna Denise Huggins; and niece, Leigh Cobbs. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Cobbs; daughter, Carla Huggins and husband, Scott; daughter, Sandy Williams and husband, Nate; sister, Darlyne Mathis and husband, Jerry Don; sister-in-law, Linda Cobbs; grandchildren, Ryan, Paige, and Jeremy Huggins, and Katie and Abby Williams; along with other loving family members and dear friends. In his last weeks, he was lovingly cared for by the devoted staff at The Healthcare Resort of Waco. We are forever grateful for their kindness and service. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Waco, the Methodist Children's home, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or a charity of your choosing.
