Albert was born in Bosqueville, Texas, on December 3, 1923, to Albert Woodward and Robbie Boyd Cobbs. After graduating from the Bosqueville School, he attended Waco High School. He married the love of his life, Tina Belle Grimes, on June 20, 1942. They were married 55 years, until her death in 1998. In January 1943, Albert was drafted into the United States Army. A year later he was in Europe where his considerable skill as a mechanic made him a valuable and respected member of the Automotive Maintenance Company of the 77th Ordinance Division supporting General Patton's rolling equipment. Albert returned to the United States at the end of 1945, when the war ended. He was proud to boast he was a member of "The Greatest Generation," rendering service to his country. Albert realized one of his fondest dreams in 1962 when he opened his own business, Cobbs Automotive, located at 1501 Franklin in Waco. Ten years later Albert and his oldest son, Darrell, moved the business to 217 North 17th. They were joined by Albert's son-in-law, Jerry Don Mathis, and later by Albert's younger son, Ronnie. In 1978 Albert and Jerry Don and Darlyne Mathis founded a second business, C & M Air Cooled Engine, Inc. When Albert was 12 years old, he joined Bosqueville Methodist Church. He was a lifelong member of the church and gave generously of his time, skill, and resources to maintaining and updating the building and grounds. Whether he was under the church building repairing electrical lines or on the roof securing the steeple, Albert was comfortable witnessing for his Savior and his church. He spoke often of God as "the old Master" who was always with him and guiding him. Albert was active in the Baylor Masonic Lodge, No.1235 A.F.&A.M., of which he was a Past Master. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Karem Shrine. He was an active member and past President of the Waco Civitan Club. He gave his time to working with the Gideons, the Waco Genealogical Society, the Bosqueville Cemetery Association, Meals On Wheels and the Advisory Committee for the Bosqueville schools. He served on the Administrative Board of the Waco Boys Club for 10 years. Albert was a past President of the Texas Independent Garagemen's Association and was also a founding member of the Texas Independent Automotive Association. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tina; his brother, James Henry Cobbs; his son, Ronald Edward Cobbs; and great granddaughter, Anna Denise Huggins. Albert is survived by his son, Albert Darrell Cobbs and wife, Sheryl, of Waco; his daughter, Linda Darlyne Cobbs Mathis and husband, Jerry Don, of Waco; his daughter-in-law, Linda Ray Cobbs of Waco; his five grandchildren, Carla Cobbs Huggins and husband, Scott, Lisa Mathis Smyers and husband, Ron, Sandy Cobbs Williams and husband, Nate, Jeff Mathis and wife, Tammy, and Leigh Cobbs; and also his eleven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Paige, Jeremy, Katie, Abby, Victoria, Calvin, Toby, Sam, Sidney and Jackson. To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' Matthew 25: 21
