Albin Frederick Larson August 11, 1926 October 25, 2013 Albin Frederick Larson, 87, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday Nov. 9, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Fred was born in Waco, Texas, on August 11, 1926, to Albin and Hildegarde Larson. He grew up in Ranger, Texas, graduating from Ranger High School in 1944. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps, but the war ended before he was deployed. He attended Texas A&M University where he studied Electrical Engineering, but transferred to TCU to earn a degree in Commerce. After graduating he moved to Houston, Texas to work in the oil and gas industry where he met his future wife, Barbara Annette Hendley. Fred and Barbara married in 1953 and made their home in Houston, where they reared their two sons. Once the boys were grown, Fred and Barbara enjoyed traveling around the world. Retiring after many years at Exxon and then Transwestern Pipeline Company, they moved to Waco to live near his cousins and their life-long friends, Max and Dorothy Ervin. While in Waco, Fred was active in the local Kiwanis club and their projects; his favorite being when they built wheelchair ramps at the homes of the less fortunate. Fred's hobbies included painting, scale modeling, jigsaw puzzles, golf, and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his two sons, Steve Larson and wife, Blythe of El Paso and Greg Larson of Houston; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Connor, Jesica, Cali and Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors, 3209 Creekwood Cr. Waco, TX 76710 or to your favorite charity.
