Alex Chunn

Alex Chunn April 30, 1940 - August 8, 2015 Alex Chunn of Waco passed away at his home on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the age of 75. According to his wishes he will be cremated. Visitation will be 6 8 p.m., Thursday, August 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in the future. Alex was born April 30, 1940, in Brownsville, Texas, to Richmond Heyser Chunn and Maxie Jones Chunn. The family moved to Waco soon after his birth, and Alex lived here the rest of his life. "Aggie", as he was known in those days, discovered his gift for working on engines early in his teen years, working on go-carts and progressing into motorcycles, ATVs and old putt-putt motors. He and his brother Larry also known as Bub were instrumental in restarting the Heart of Texas Cart Club in the late sixties and worked with the club for years, while racing their cart and helping others. Mr. Chunn was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association. Many friends were made when Alex used one of his old engines and a five gallon ice cream churn to make ice cream or frozen margaritas. Alex was a great mechanic who gladly shared his knowledge with friends and strangers alike. "Chunnie" was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his brother, Larry Chunn and wife, Linda, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Berry, Jr., Josh Speck, Rick Sowders, Aubrey Stringer, Bob Singer, Cotter Stringer, Lou Buice, Terry Bush and Rusty Steed.
