Alfred James Smith March 4, 1941 January 31, 2009 Alfred James Smith of Waco died peacefully at home January 31, 2009. A memorial in celebration of Al's life will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey in Waco. Al was born March 4, 1941, to James Jimmy and Cubby Smith. He was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and attended St. Gregory's and OCU. He spent most of his life as a successful salesman. Later, Al devoted time to breeding and showing bull terriers. Al had a true zest for life. He never met a stranger and could add his brand of sparkle to any occasion. He was blessed with the gift of Irish, always telling a grand story. Al will be missed dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Smith. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 34 years, Shelley Smith of Waco; his daughters, Jennifer Lembcke and husband, Jeff, and Stacey Albertson and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Paul and Alyson Lembcke, and Kristen and Michael Albertson; his mother, Cubby Smith; brother, John Smith and wife, Juanita; sister, Marianne Smith; nieces, Whitney Kitchen and Leslie Williams and husband, Tim; great nephew, Spencer; and his mother-in-law, Bonnie Bledsoe.
