Alfred Litton

Alfred Litton, 87, of Robinson, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, August 24, 2019. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with his nephew, Larry Litton, officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Alfred was born April 7, 1932, to Luther Dowell and Virgie Litton in England, Arkansas. He was a member of First Baptist Church Hewitt, Texas. Alfred was a decorated veteran who prouldy served in the Texas National Guard and United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. During this time, he was involved in the Honest John Missle Project. Following his military service, he worked for Citizens National Bank and later Bank of America, retiring after 30 years of service as Vice President of the Property Management division. Alfred met Dora Cook on a blind date and later married on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1950, in Lorena, Texas. They were married 55 years until God called her home on November 20, 2005. They raised four children and were active volunteers in their churches and communities. Together they served as sponsors for youth trips, school events and opened their home to many events, both planned and unplanned, in the Waco and Robinson area. They served on many mission trips in the US, Mexico and Brazil. Alfred was passionate about serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The love that he modeled to his family and beyond can never be replaced and will never be forgotten. We experienced unconditional love, and he taught us to love and care for others. Most importantly, he cared about our spiritual formation and our faith in God. His influence reached well beyond family. Many sought his wisdom and guidance throughout the years. He actively served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and youth sponsor for many years in several local churches and in community organizations, with one being the Southern Little League organization as Treasurer. Avid travelers, he and Dora took their family on numerous adventures and instilled in us a desire to see and appreciate what God’s creation has to offer. Alfred spent over 40 years in the Good Sam’s Club serving as Texas State Director (1989-1992) and Good Sam Sambassador (1993-2003) and Transportation Director for the Internation Rallies. These experiences led to countless friends all over the country. He earned the name “Pawpaw Camper” because he was always camping in his motorhome. He traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He attended his grandkids’ many school events, which many times meant changing clothes in the car to sport the appropriate school colors. He was a devoted Lady Bears basketball fan, rarely missing a home game, which may have resulted in him arriving late or leaving early at family events. After Dora’s death in 2005, Alfred met Mary Jo McWhorter at a Texas Good Sam Rally. They married on March 24, 2007. She shared his love for travel and Baylor Basketball. They coninued to stay active in the Good Sam organization until November 2018 when his cancer returned. Mary Jo was a devoted caregiver and loving wife to Alfred which allowed him to stay home until his passing. They shared 12 wonderful years together. We will miss his smile, sense of humor, and his guidance. We are thankful for the wonderful memories that we can cherish for the rest of our lives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Litton; granddaughter, Gwen Danley; parents; and six siblings. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Litton; sons, Bill and wife, Carol, of Richmond,Texas, Bobby and wife, Maria, of Avalon, Texas, daughters, Marilyn Mckinney and husband, Tim, and Mary Reinhardt and husband, Kelvin, all of Waco; two stepsons, Jimmy Ray Reedy and Mark Alan Reedy of Brazoria; grandchildren, April Browning and husband, Joel, Brian Reinhardt and wife, JoElla, Alicia Curry and partner, Lance, Jason Reinhardt and wife, Amber, Sara Shoup and husband, Eric, and Brandon Litton and partner, Paige; stepgrandson, Gerald James Reedy and wife, Libby; great-grandchildren, Erin and Michael Curry, Jr., Summit and Journey Browning, Avery, Will, and Olivia Reinhardt, Wade and Ben Reinhardt, Wyatt Shoup, and Caroline Litton, Landon, Brayden, and Grayson Reedy; one brother, Earl Litton of Cumby, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and devoted friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brian and Jason Reinhardt, Brandon Litton, and Eric Shoup, and nephews, Rick Coats, Gary Dean Litton, Don Litton, and Craig Johnston. Honorary pallbearers are his many nephews and friends.
