Allen Jack Pannell

May 7, 1925 — June 25, 2017

Our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017. He will be remembered as a loving, devoted, and loyal “Southern Gentleman.” Born May 7, 1925, in Rosboro, Arkansas, he was the only child of Allen M. and Lillie K. Pannell. He had a wonderful childhood and spent most of his young adulthood in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from North Little Rock High School and attended Arkansas State Teachers College. His work life was spent with Unisys (Burroughs Corp.) working in the computer and business machine industry servicing clients. He loved building and flying model airplanes from an early age, a love that continued through adulthood. He also enjoyed reading and working word puzzles. Allen joined the Army Air Force in 1943, receiving a pilot certification after completing cadet and pilot schools. He was a WWII veteran and was proud to serve his country. Survivors include his wife, Alta; daughter, Bridget and husband, Mark Porter; son, Greg and wife, C.J.; grandchildren, Keith and Claire Porter and Hunter and Allyna Pannell; and great granddaughter, Flora Katherine. There will be a private family graveside memorial at a later date. If desired, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or Meals on Wheels. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
