Allen Ray Hogans

August 22, 1934 — January 2, 2023

Allen Ray Hogan, 88, of Waco, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Monday, January 2, 2023, at Baylor, Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center.


A graveside service will be Thursday, January 5 at 2 p.m. at Waco Memorial Park with Bro. Roy Marshall officiating. There will be no formal visitation with the family; however, viewing at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, for anyone who wishes to pay their last respects.


Allen Ray was born August 22, 1934, in Dallas, to Nannie Mae (Bullard) and Luther Burt Hogan. He graduated from University Junior High and attended Waco Tech, (now University High School). When he was 62, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Hill) Hogan and they were married for 25 years. Allen Ray was a barber who took pride in his profession for over 30 years in El Paso and East Waco.


At about 10 years old, he walked the aisle at Riverside Baptist Church in Fort Worth to make his profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized. He was a member of First Baptist Church Hewitt.


Allen Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.


He is survived by his son, Wesley Ray Hogan, and wife, Darla; son, Ronald Wayne Hogan; grandchildren, Heather King, Benjamin Hogan, and Joshua Hogan; and great-grandchildren, Eli King, Kase King, Wesley Hogan, and Zachary Hogan. Papa Ray will also be missed by his surviving stepchildren, Donna Curtis and husband, Allen, Gina Langley, Kenneth Langley and wife, Dana, along with six step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren.
