Alma was born January 16, 1915 in Westphalia, Texas, to August F. and Rosa Hoelscher. She married Eddie H. Miller of Riesel in 1935, where they made their home, later moving to Corpus Christi and eventually to Waco in 1945. In 1984 she married J.D. Harris. Known as "Bebe" to her family, she was a dynamic domino player and was impossible to beat by young and old, even into her last month of life. She was a strong willed person who managed her life in an impeccable manner. She also had her own way of managing her health to its finest detail, even with her numerous health conditions, starting with a heart attack when she was 41. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and St. Veronica's Altar Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Eddie Miller and J.D. Harris; her sisters, Lena Glatter, Hilda Berger, Elsie Fuchs and Dora Moeller; and her brothers, Robert Hoelscher, Otto Sonny Hoelscher and Leander Dickie Hoelscher. Bebe is survived by her devoted daughter, Shirley Miller Crockett; beloved granddaughters, Chrisanne Kahler and husband, Kent, and Megan Goebel and husband, John; great grandsons, Kris, Korey and Kollin Kaher, Jeremy and Grant Goebel; great granddaughter, Courtney Miller Percivill; sister, Mary Cypert; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family thanks her great doctors, Dr. Wayne Falcone, who, along with her advice, took a damaged heart and made it serve her well for 96 years; and Dr. Carlos Guerra for his remarkable patience and care. Additional thanks to Quality Care of Waco staff and Texas Home Health Care Hospice. Pallbearers are her great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Central Texas Senior Ministry, St. Louis Catholic School, the McLennan Community College Foundation, or the organization of choice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
