Alton Andrew Thomas, Sr. April 28, 1929 - October 28, 2015 Alton Andrew Thomas of Waco passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at his residence surrounded by family. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 2, at Western Heights Baptist Church with the Pastor Darrel Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Alton was born April 28, 1929, in Poolville, Texas, to James and Virginia Thomas. He served in the U.S. Army after WWII. From age 14 to age 35 he was a cross-country truck driver. The next 10 years he was a diesel mechanic with M&M Truck Lease. In the mid 1970’s he started contracting rural mail routes for USPS and retired from that at the age of 70. During his retirement years, he worked security until June of 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Norma Jean Thomas; great granddaughter, Kalynn Rounsavall; and son-in-law, Bobby Parker. He is survived by his wife, Vickey Thomas, of Waco; sons, Alton Thomas Jr. and wife, Sancy, of Burnet, Texas and Jody Thomas of China Spring, Texas; daughters, Sheila Bruce and husband, Clay, of China Spring, Charlotte Sims Parker and Mary Sims Hively, both of Hillsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Cody Thomas, Keli Thomas, Colby Thomas, Kavery Thomas, Kase Thomas, Josh Bewley, Jessica Loughridge, Amanda Rounsavall, Robert T. Parker, Rebecca Ellison, David Wyrick and Allison Wyrick Hanway; and 19 great grandchildren. He is also survived by the extended family of his present wife, Vickey: her children, Trina Agosta, Sylvia Hellner and husband, Lonnie, Samuel Hellner and wife, Shelby, James Hellner and wife, Misty and Lana Hellner and husband, Michael, Sr.; grandchildren, Heather and Hailey Agosta, Eric Smith, Jason Morris, Christina Brown, Ryan Brown, Makenzie Turner, Ian Hellner, Riffanie, Exanna, Michael, Julia, Kevin and Issac Hellner, Brittany, Michael and Caleb Carter; and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Cody Thomas, Josh Bewley, David Wyrick, Robert T. Parker, Ryan Brown and Michael Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Hutcheison, Darrell Thomas, Shannon Thomas, Antony Thomas and Jacob Rounsavall.
