Alton Kennard Kirk, Sr.

KIRK, SR., ALTON Alton Kennard Kirk, Sr., age 82, died Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, October 19th at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Olson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, October 18th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Kirk was born January 16, 1919 in Rosebud, TX. He married Erna Elenora Lange on February 27, 1946. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII. Mr. Kirk worked for General Tire and Rubber Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Erna Kirk; daughters, Donzel Garrett of Houston, Ernestine Shanks of Woodway, and Geneva Searcy of Waco; son, Alton Kennard Kirk, Jr. of Hewitt; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother, Robert Kirk of Waco, and sisters, Glaydeen Swift of Temple and Sybil Craft of Wisconsin. Pallbearers will be Carl Kirk, Charles Kirk, Clarence McNeill, Jr., Jerry Kopriva, Melvin Lange, and Mike Trantham. A special thanks given to the women and men of Care Inn of Waco who assisted during his final days. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
