Amanda Ethel Litton October 12, 1927 - April 10, 2011 Amanda Ethel Casey Litton, 83, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, in Fort Worth. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Neil Walter and Rev. Lori Cotton officiating. Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, Texas. Visitation will be 6:00 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Ethel was born October 12, 1927, in Oglesby, to John Monroe Casey and Lillie Green Casey. She attended school there and was valedictorian of the 1944 graduating class. Following graduation, she worked for the Coryell County Tax Assessor. She later moved to Waco and worked for William Cameron Company, Colley Lumber Co., and Stevens Sash and Door. In the 1960s, she went to work for Jack Boling, CPA, and his support inspired her to pursue her licensure as a certified public accountant. She retired in 2002 from John McAnally and Company. Ethel married Bennie V. Litton on December 31, 1948, in Waco. She was a member of Lake Shore United Methodist Church. Ethel was very proud of her Coryell County roots. She was a descendant of several Coryell County pioneer families, including Curtis Green, Richard Casey, Reuben Ross and John Halbrook. She loved family history and genealogy, as well as reading and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Texas Society of CPAs, and formerly a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Waco 2381, and the Rebekah Lodge of Waco. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Lake Waco Montessori School, reading with children in the 2nd and 3rd grades. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bennie V. Litton in 1986; and her brother, Curtis Monroe Casey. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Pugh and husband, Michael, of Arlington; son, John Litton and wife, Cindy Lewis, of New Paltz, NY; grandchildren, Nicholls Pugh and Melissa of Weatherford, SGT Howell A. Pugh and Rebecca Burritt, of Savannah, GA, Casey Marie Stump and Jason of Arlington, Samuel B. Litton of New York City, and Lillie and Molly Litton of New Paltz, NY; six great grandchildren, Cutis Kizer-Pugh, Jillian and Meredith Pugh, and Logan, Holden and Elise Stump; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ethel Casey, Alfred and Mary Jo Litton, and Earl and Nadine Litton; and many nieces and nephews. The family request, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Methodist Children's Home, 1111 Herring Avenue, Waco, TX 78708.
