Angus Moody Barrett, Sr.

October 30, 1914 — June 28, 2002

ANGUS BARRETT Angus Moody Barrett, Sr., 87, of Waco, died Friday, June 28, 2002 at his home after a long illness. Graveside services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, July 2 at Oakwood Cemetery with the Reverend William Ray Parmer officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm, Monday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Barrett was born on the family farm at Wortham Bend just outside of Waco on October 30, 1914 to George David and Jo Alice Grimes Barrett. He was a lifelong resident of Waco, leaving only to serve in Europe in the 22nd Depot Supply Squadron of the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII from 1942-1945. Mr. Barrett graduated from Waco High School in 1931 and received his BBA from Baylor in 1935. He was a wholesale tire and gasoline distributor until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Barrett married Mary Jo Johnson on April 4, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, G.D. and Coy Barrett; and sisters, Anne Jensen, Lora Sparks and Gladys Vestal. Survivors include: wife, Mary Jo Barrett of Waco; daughter, Rebecca Anne Barrett Fajkowski and husband Robert of Vienna, Virginia; son, Angus Moody Barrett, Jr. and wife Joan of Temple; 2 grandsons and 3 granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers, Judy Borchevitz and Robert Edwards and Hillcrest Hospice. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Community Hospice. WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY
