Anita Winkelmann Harwell September 9, 1928 June 14, 2008 Anita Winkelmann Harwell, 79, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Riesel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Anita was born in Mart to Fred and Annie Winkelmann and lived in the Mart and Otto communities most of her life. She was married to John H. Harwell, Jr. in Colorado Springs, CO on March 1, 1952. She worked as a sales clerk at Jean's Hosiery and Kresses in Waco; she retired in 1987 after 17 years of service as a cafeteria employee for Connally ISD. Anita had been a longtime member of Elm Mott First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, John Earl Harwell; sisters Sophie Schlemmer, Hattie Schmedthorst, Alvine Schroeder; brothers Fred Winklemann and Bill Winkelmann. Anita is survived by her husband John H. Harwell, Jr. Johnny of Elm Mott: one son, Mike Harwell of Elm Mott; two daughters, Cathy Summers and Barbara Prisco of Elm Mott; sisters Annie Springer of Waco and Lorena Jander and husband Lewis of Houston; brothers Henry Winkelmann of Riesel and Wilburn Winkelman and wife Dovie of China Spring; six grandchildren, Randall Harwell and wife Erica of Gatesville, Bradley Harwell of Salado, Chad Austin and wife Jessica of McGregor, Curtis Austin of Elm Mott, Krystal Prisco of Kempner, Sean Prisco of Elm Mott; and one great grandchild Chase Harwell of Salado. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great grandchild. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Buster and John Pavelka. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association or charity of your choice. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at St. Catherine Center and to Dr. Tim Martindale for their care and compassion during Betty's stay.
