Anita Ward Rolf May 27, 1930 December 30, 2014 Anita Ward Rolf of Waco passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014. After a private family burial a memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Waco, with Dr. Matt Snowden officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Anita was born May 27, 1930, in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Mayfield and Norvia Ward. She graduated from Alabama College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She served as Youth Minister in Miami, Florida and Director of Student Activities at Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. She met Howard Rolf at First Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee, and they married in 1961. They moved to Waco, Texas, in 1964. Anita was an active and efficient volunteer in the community and in her church. She served as a teacher and mentor of youth and college students at her church, First Baptist Church, Waco. She also served as a deacon, on a number of committees and on the Board of the First Baptist Foundation. At Midway School she was a member of the School Board for 15 years and a member of the founding committee of the Midway ISD Foundation. She held a variety of offices in the Baylor Women's Round Table. She served the community through United Way, Campfire and the McLennan County Historical Association. She received special recognition from Girl Scouts and Campfire. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ward and Louise Hubbs. Her survivors include her husband of 53 years, Howard Rolf; son, Jim and wife, Ann, and children, James and Julia; daughter, Jennifer, and husband, Brett, and children Madeline, Cutter and Beth; daughter, Stephanie, and husband, Roy, and children Andrew, Lauren and Anna; daughter, Rhonda; nephew, Guy Hubbs, and wife, Pat, and children, Jessica, Molly and Claire; and many Rolf nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Foundation, 500 Webster, Waco 76706; Midway ISD Foundation, 901 Old Hewitt Rd, Waco 76712; or Howard and Anita Rolf Mathematics Scholarship, Baylor University, 97050 One Bear Place, Waco 76798. Please specify that it will be going towards the Howard and Anita Rolf Mathematics Scholarship. The family is grateful for four years of loving care given by the personnel at Lakeshore Village Healthcare.
