A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2002 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Ken Kesselus officiating. Her valiant fight against cancer set an example for us all. She attended Texas Christian University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and graduated from Baylor University in 1964. As an elementary education major, she taught first grade at Sanger Avenue Elementary. Ann married David Harwell in 1964. During their years together, they lived in various cities in Texas and have resided in Kilgore for many years. Ann was a tireless worker who quietly gave of herself in service to her church and her many friends. She especially loved music and flowers and served as a choir member and on the altar guild of her parish for many years. Ann was a member of the Daughters of the King and the Community of Hope, a lay ministry to the sick. Ann will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She leaves a void in the lives of her husband and son that will never be filled. Ann was the daughter of Merlin and Marjorie Cash. She is survived by her father Merlin Cash of Waco, her devoted husband David Harwell of Kilgore, and son David Harwell, Jr. of Dallas; one brother, Richard of Baytown and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Lake Air Tower, 4924 Cobbs Drive, on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Head and Neck Cancer Research Fund at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe, Houston, TX 77030, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waco, or to Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, TX.
