Annie Mae Oakes Rogers November 25, 1915–November 7, 2006 Annie Mae Oakes Rogers, 90, of Waco passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006 at West Rest Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Chapel with Minister James Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Rogers was born Nov. 25, 1915, to Frank Leslie Oakes and Hattie Lou Templeton Oakes in Waco, TX. She was a member of Laguna Park Church of Christ. She retired from McLennan County in 1975 where she organized and worked in the voter registration office. She is remembered for her love of her family and friends. She was a very hard worker in the community of Lacy Lakeview where she was president of the McLennan County PTA. Mrs. Rogers wrote the Connally High School School Song and she and her husband never missed a ballgame or activity when her children attended Connally High School. She married Raymond Aulvry Rogers May 2, 1933 at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Waco. After retirement they moved to Whitney, TX She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, her parents; three sisters, Lucille Oakes Maner, Sue Oakes Smith and Patsy Oakes Bolfing. She is survived by her children, twins John Raymond Rogers and Meredith Ann Rogers Ferguson, both of Waco; her grandchildren, Janet Rogers Ginsburg and husband, Brian of Waco; Benny Aulvry Rogers and wife, Veronica of Mart; Edward H. Petrich III and wife, Alice of Waco; Leslie Ferguson Aguilar and husband, Rudy of Georgetown; and David Ferguson and wife, Ann of Salida, Calif. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Danny Aguilar of Round Rock, Ashley Lynette Bone of San Angelo, Angelina Christina Aguilar of Georgetown, Charles Michael and Kimberly Ann Ferguson of Salida, Calif., Meredith Ivy and William Ross Ginsburg, Taylor and Allison Petrich, all of Waco; and Skylar and Owen Rogers of Tennessee. Also surviving are great-great grandchildren, Brodie and Isaiah Aguilar of Round Rock; sister, Bertha Bob Davis, Bessie Lee Webb, numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Gerald Leslie Bolfing, John Bolfing, Kenneth Bolfing, Tommy Anderson, Jerry Anderson and John Graves. Memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. The family is very thankful for the especially kind, helpful and professional care received by the staff at West Rest Haven Nursing Home.
