Anthony Paul Tony Saladino, Sr.

December 14, 1913 — November 24, 2002

ANTHONY P. Tony SALADINO, Sr. Anthony Paul Tony Saladino, Sr., age 88 of Waco, died Sunday, November 24 at a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 26 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Monsignor Mark Deering and Rev. David Leibham officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday, November 25 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Saladino was born in San Antonio to Joseph and Eva Saladino on December 14, 1913. He moved to Waco as a child. In December of 1936, he married Nelda Braune. Mr. Saladino was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a Veteran of World War II, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, serving in the occupational forces in Japan. He was a member of the VFW Post #2148. Mr. Saladino worked at Richards Equipment for 35 years and was also employed for several years with Smith Industrial Supply. He enjoyed traveling, making several trips to his parents’ homeland of Sicily, woodworking, gardening, and playing with his dogs Charlie and Pedro. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Frank Saladino, great granddaughter Danielle Kettler, and recently by his sisters Lucille Daniel and Mrs. Sandina Shubert. His dog Pedro also precedes him in death. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Saladino of Waco; daughters, Eva Ann Corbo of San Antonio and Betty Kettler of Whitney; sons, Anthony Paul Saladino Jr. and Patrick Saladino, both of Waco; caring and protective brothers and sister, Sammy Saladino of Fort Worth, Louis Saladino of Round Rock, Johnny Saladino of Waco and Ann Brooks of Waco; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Paul Saladino, Gary Saladino, Jason Saladino, Danny Kettler, Tommy Brooks and Tommy Benson. The family would like to give special thanks to the 3rd floor staff at St. Catherine’s nursing facility and to the doctors at Scott & White Hospital. May God bless you Daddy, until we meet again. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church or Reicher Catholic High School.
