Antonio Lozano Piña, lovingly known by many as “Tony”, passed away at home, January 9th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 51. Tony’s fight against his cancer was a courageous battle, his resilience and spirit will long be remembered.
A memorial service celebrating Tony’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas. A procession to Oakwood Cemetery will follow, where his family and fellow riders will lay him to rest.
A Waco native, Tony was born June 21, 1973. He graduated from LaVega High School, Class of 1991. Over his life Tony acquired numerous nicknames that followed him, he was known as “Tony Vortex”, and those closest to him knew him as “Flaco”, “Tony Bologna”, “Caffeine” and “Feine”. At a young age, Tony grew to love most anything that would go fast on wheels, he had a passion for skateboards, bikes, cars, lowriders and motorcycles. It was from a young age he knew he enjoyed tinkering and modifying. He spent many childhood hours altering bicycles, to create better “freestyle bikes” and custom “lowrider bikes.” This hobby grew into his lifelong passion and career. In 1994, Tony along with his cousin, Marselo “Selo” Lozano and friend, Jay Perez, established a local lowrider garage shop. “The Shop” was known by many people around the area, everyone wanted their rides customized and modified by the best. Tony had a vast knowledge, skill and a knack to create whatever he imagined. He was the best at whatever he set his mind to do. For over 20 years, he owned and operated a custom motorcycle shop creating, designing and fabricating motorcycles. “The Vortex”, named as an ode to his Uncle Sunny’s nickname for his house garage, is where Tony spent many hours learning and tinkering.
Tony was preceded in death by several family members to include his grandparents: grandmother, Guadalupe Piña; grandfather, Tomas Piña; grandmother, Matilde Torres Lozano; and grandfather, Marselo “Marshall” Lopez Lozano. Also preceding him are aunt, Irene Granado and uncles, Jose “Pepe” Piña, Tomas “Tito” Piña, Carlos Lozano and Marselo “Sunny” Lozano.
Tony is survived by his children: daughter, Brittany Piña; sons, Donovan Piña and Devin Piña; his father, Antonio Piña; mother, Matilda Lozano; brother, Jesse Piña; sisters, Ana Marmino, Alma Mia Fraga and husband, Benjamin; girlfriend, Rebecca Baerman; aunts, Natividad “Nati” Haliburton, Catarina “Katie” Mojica and Elizabeth Lozano; along with numerous other family and friends.
Tony’s greatest accomplishment was being a father to his three children, followed closely by being a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a free spirit and enjoyed following his dreams and doing what he wanted in life, with the motto, “F*** it, I do what I want!”
