April Dianne Pickard, 38, of Robinson, passed into eternal life on February 22, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home with the Rev. Kay Hawkins officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 26, at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. April was born January 30, 1980, to Patsie Haygood and wasted no time in bringing joy to the world. A proud member of the Robinson High School band and flag corps, she graduated in 1999, and used her lifetime love of music and her beautiful voice to earn a music scholarship at McLennan Community College. Her true calling, however, was in working with children. She earned her degree in Child Development, blessing many children with her patience and warm, caring spirit, both as a childcare worker and a children's church minister at Faith Temple Baptist Church. Many souls will one day join her in Heaven because of the children she led to Jesus. She was a force of nature, a natural magnet who collected people. Her genuine smile and contagious optimism always shined through, even in the face of her breast cancer diagnosis. Her bravery will forever serve as an inspiration and a challenge to live life with that same kind of unflinching grace and unwavering faith. April was met in Heaven by her daddy, Phillip Haygood; her Mamaw, Ferne Gottlieb Warren; and her Papaw, John Massirer. She is survived by her mother, Patsie Dianne Haygood; aunts and uncles, Judie and Gary Scott, Debbie and Clinton Dechaume, Jamie and Tim Roberts, and Carrie and Bill Holt; cousins, Jessica, Johnathan, Jason, Christen, Justin, Shelby, and Adam; and her Mimi, Lorene Massirer. Also left to cherish her memory are her brother by choice, Boyd Howard and wife, Laura; her sister by choice, Kasia Redden; family by choice, Joey Estrada, Dave Epps, Cindy Mosley-Guy, Ann Shaffer, Steve Browning, and colleagues at UBS Financial Services, Inc.; as well as a host of other family, friends, and caregivers, and the legacy of her loving spirit that remains in each of the children whose lives she touched. Gratitude is also extended to Dr. Tara Barnett, Dr. Nancy Bednarz, Dr. Vic Patel, the staff at Baylor Scott & White McClinton Cancer Center, Baylor Scott & White ICU, Providence Hospice Place, and Right At Home caregiver and friend, Sue Leonard, for their compassionate care.
